The role:
The Radiographer (Medical Imaging Practitioner) is responsible for:
- Performing basic imaging examinations to produce images of the highest diagnostic value possible whilst using ionising radiations. Both in general and fluoroscopic radiography.
- Ensuring compliance with the ‘as low as reasonably achievable’ (ALARA) principle whilst using ionising and non-ionising radiation to provide images.
- Liaise with staff and the general public in matters relating to general radiography.
- Candidate must be Registered with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia. Fourth year students 2024, eligible to apply pending full registration.

The LGH radiology department has an annual turnover of over 70,000 examinations and is staffed 24/7 with shifts and on call. We have a great team and ongoing professional development in the department.

The population catchment for the Launceston General Hospital of approximately 250000, extends from the Northwest to the east coast of Tasmania. The LGH is unique it the level of tertiary specialist medical services it has for a regional hospital, as such we see a wide range of presentations and complex medical imaging cases.

Details of appointment:
Permanent full time, shift worker (fully rotational) positions available, working 76 hours per fortnight, to commence as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $73,834 to $111,364 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
