Description
The Monetary and Capital Markets (MCM) Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has an opening for an Advisor/Assistant Director to provide intellectual leadership and expertise for the IMF's work on macroprudential policy. This work will include leading analytical projects on key macroprudential policy issues, providing advice to IMF country and FSAP teams on macroprudential policy strategy, advising on technical assistance, and maintaining strong engagement on macroprudential policy issues with central banks, other policy institutions, and academics. The broad aim will be to help further support the Fund’s efforts to serve as a global leader on macroprudential policy on behalf of its membership, including for advanced and emerging economies.
The Advisor/Assistant Director will report to directly to the Director of the MCM Department and work closely with the Deputy Director in charge of macroprudential policy. The selected candidate will advise and assist the Director and Deputy Director in managing the MCM Department’s policy and analytical work on macroprudential policy and collaborate with other MCM senior staff and other key departments in the Fund.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should have:
• Advanced University degree in economics or a related field (Ph.D. highly desired) with at least 15 years of professional experience and substantial experience in working in macroprudential policy (preferably with senior leadership experience at a central bank or policy institution).
• Strong ability to produce innovative analytical work on macroprudential policy as evidenced by publications in academic journals as well as in more policy-oriented publications.
• Deep expertise and technical knowledge of macroprudential policy, including of cross-border issues
• Intellectual leadership skills and the ability to consistently deliver high quality output.
• Strong organizational skills, which are needed to help plan and delegate projects assigned by the MCM Director or the Deputy Director in charge of macroprudential policy.
• Commitment to foster a diverse and inclusive work environment.
• Reputation as a team player who is respected by colleagues for his/her corporate mindset.
• Well-developed diplomatic and partnership skills, which are needed to build strong collaborative relationships within the Fund as well as with country authorities.
