About the role

AVER is seeking an experienced Security Compliance Specialist to support to a large IT services team in the Department of Homeland Security. Responsibilities Include:

Manage ongoing Authority to Operate (ATO)
Manage the continuous monitoring of NIST 800-53 security controls within a federal government environment
Perform information security and risk management while maintaining compliance with evolving Federal regulations within a large Federal IT environment
Maintains a proactive approach to ensure the security and integrity of IT systems and data

Education Requirements:

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required

Experience Requirements:

5+ years of experience overseeing the process of obtaining and maintaining Authority to Operate (ATO) for IT systems
5+ years of experience including developing and updating security documentation which may include System Security Plans, Program Level Security Policies/Procedures, and Plan of Action and Milestones to remain current with an evolving application environment
5+ years of expreince in maintaining active coordination with system owners, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure security controls are met
5+ years of experience with developing and implement a continuous monitoring strategy to maintain an ongoing awareness of information security, vulnerabilities, and threats
2+ years of experience in applying and assessing NIST 800-53 security controls within AWS environments
2+ years of Agile team experience
Experience tailoring, implementing, and continuously monitoring NIST 800-53 security controls in large Federal government environments
