AVER is seeking an experienced Security Compliance Specialist to support to a large IT services team in the Department of Homeland Security. Responsibilities Include:
- Manage ongoing Authority to Operate (ATO)
- Manage the continuous monitoring of NIST 800-53 security controls within a federal government environment
- Perform information security and risk management while maintaining compliance with evolving Federal regulations within a large Federal IT environment
- Maintains a proactive approach to ensure the security and integrity of IT systems and data
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required
- 5+ years of experience overseeing the process of obtaining and maintaining Authority to Operate (ATO) for IT systems
- 5+ years of experience including developing and updating security documentation which may include System Security Plans, Program Level Security Policies/Procedures, and Plan of Action and Milestones to remain current with an evolving application environment
- 5+ years of expreince in maintaining active coordination with system owners, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure security controls are met
- 5+ years of experience with developing and implement a continuous monitoring strategy to maintain an ongoing awareness of information security, vulnerabilities, and threats
- 2+ years of experience in applying and assessing NIST 800-53 security controls within AWS environments
- 2+ years of Agile team experience
- Experience tailoring, implementing, and continuously monitoring NIST 800-53 security controls in large Federal government environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proactive and self-motivated with a strong sense of responsibility
- HYBRID (Washington, D.C)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government clearance (Public Trust)
- This role supports a government agency which requires U.S. citizenship
