Veterinary Medical Center | Large Animal Basic ServiceThe College of Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Medical Center seeks a Veterinary Assistant to join the Large Animal team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to assist in the provision of care to ill and injured animals as well as providing assistance to clinicians, staff and professional students in the day to day operations of the Veterinary Medical Center. The position includes providing basic patient care functions such as assisting with patient assessment, restraint, and treatments; comforting, grooming and caring for hospitalized animal patients; monitoring patients and notify higher level technician or veterinarian of any unusual changes or symptoms; transporting patients within the Veterinary Medical Center; stocking supplies including feed, medical supplies and equipment; cleaning and disinfecting treatment areas, animals housing units, adjacent areas and supporting equipment following prescribed sanitation procedures and observing rules of epidemiology to prevent spread of disease; carrying out prescribed bedding; walking patients and providing clean housing, food, and water at all times; performing daily cleaning of outdoor areas and VMC entrances; cleaning all animal areas including windows, floors, light covers, ledges, hallways, vents, receiving rooms etc.; notifying supervisor of need for non-routine repairs assisting with laundry; providing clerical support when necessary; assisting in the collection of lab specimens such as blood, urine, and feces for testing; assisting with training student employees in prescribed care of animals and other duties that may be assigned.
Hiring Range - $18.00 - $20.74 per hour
