Northern Trust Asset Management (NTAM) is over a trillion dollar investment management firm entrusted by investors around the globe to help them navigate changing market environments, so they can confidently realize their long-term objectives. 

The Senior Project Manager – NTAM Platform Innovation is responsible for managing program and project execution of NTAM’s most strategic, complex, and highly-valued projects to accelerate our right to win. This role reports into the NTAM Head of NTAM Platform Innovation in Chicago under the COO organization. The right candidate will be part of a multi-faceted fast-paced role that will tap into their business knowledge, technical competence, project execution ability and consultative thinking to  drive strategic project execution.

Responsibilities

Be part of the newly formed NTAM Platform Innovation team stood up to drive change and innovation in the business to strengthen and accelerate our right to win. Responsibilities include:

• Manages execution of complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines and/or ambiguous issues 

• Leads cross-functional teams to drive disciplined execution of strategic projects from initiation to completion

• Engages with leaders at different levels of the organization to define project objectives, build project plans with clear milestones and OKRs, communicate progress, and drive consensus

• Simplify complex issues and identify creative solutions to drive to rapid issue resolution.  

• Anticipate project risks and escalate in a timely manner to drive decisions and/or course correction

• Partner with Automation, Data and Technology Architecture Teams to develop and recommend solutions to achieve project objectives.

• Displays a balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with the business to improve efficiency, effectiveness and productivity

• Communicate project roadmap in terms meaningful to both business and technology organizations to influence, educate and support the implementation of key business, digital and automation capabilities.

Necessary Knowledge / Skills

• Deep project management expertise with experience in both waterfall and agile delivery

• Excellent oral and written communication skills and experience in developing materials and presenting to executive audiences

• Strong organizational, analytical and influencing skills are required

• Results-driven and resourceful individual who enjoys coming up with ideas/solutions to problems without prompting

• Highly flexible and adaptable to change

• Ability and willingness to dive into the details

• Dynamic relationship building and partnership skills; a strong collaborator with experience leading initiatives across multiple groups and stakeholders

• Global outlook with sensitivity and awareness of social and cultural differences

• Strong situational awareness and decision making capabilities

• Strong executive communication skills

Necessary Experience

• 15+ years of overall experience with at least 5+ years of demonstrated track record of leading and managing high visibility business and technology projects. 

• 10+ years of work experience in Asset Management, Wealth Management and/or Asset Servicing is a must.  

• Management consulting and/or strategic transformation experience highly desired.

• Demonstrated experience of working in matrixed organization to drive delivery and change.

• Experience in business process analysis, design and implementation is a plus

• Demonstrated experience in leveraging metrics to gauge progress and driving outcomes.

• Bachelor’s Degree required, PMP or Agile certification is a plus
