Summer Intern - Data EngineerJob Description *Fiserv is currently looking for innovative and motivated Technology Interns to participate in the 10-week 2026 Summer Internship Program from June 1, 2026 – August 7, 2026. Technology areas such as Application Development, Cyber Security, Data Science, Database Management, IT Project Management, Quality Assurance and Infrastructure are offering internships; each will provide a training curriculum, mentoring, and on-the-job experiential learning.
Interns will work with Technology professionals learning much-needed skills such as coding, testing and supporting application software; collaborating with senior analysts and experienced teammates; offering innovative suggestions; participating in quality inspections; supporting ongoing documentation of existing processes, with mentorship, and other complicated projects. Assignments serve to offer practical experience and broad exposure to the organization. Specific activities vary by assignment.
About this role:
As a Summer Intern - Data Engineer, you will support the design, build, and maintenance of data pipelines that move and transform data for analytics and operational use. You will work with data engineers and cross-functional partners to improve data reliability, support schema design, and help monitor pipeline performance. Your work will contribute to accurate, timely data that supports business decisions and internal operations.
What you'll do:
Assist in designing and building data pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, and storage
Support the development and maintenance of data workflows to enable efficient, reliable data movement and processing
Help with data modeling and schema design for analytics and operational systems
Monitor pipeline performance, identify issues, and support troubleshooting activities to improve reliability
Write and test SQL queries and scripts to validate data quality and pipeline outputs
Collaborate with engineers and business partners to document requirements, data flows, and technical changes
Learn and apply engineering practices, tools, and standards used by the team

Experience you'll need to have:
0-2 years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, analytics, coursework, academic projects, internships, or related technical experience
Experience using SQL to query, join, and validate data in relational databases
Experience with Python, Java, or a similar programming language for scripting, automation, or data processing
Experience analyzing datasets and solving technical problems using structured, testable approaches
High school diploma and currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Management Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Technical Project Management, or a related technology field, or equivalent combination of education, related experience and/or military experience
Expected graduation between December 2026 and June 2028
Experience that would be great to have:
Exposure to Apache Spark, Hadoop, or similar large-scale data processing frameworks
Familiarity with Databricks workflows or other workflow orchestration tools
Exposure to Databricks, Microsoft Azure Data Factory, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Dataflow
Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices for data engineering
How you'll work:
This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.
