Job Location: Alexandria, VA 22314Position Type: Part TimeJob Category: MaintenanceThe Parts Clerk is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day tasks of the parts unit within the maintenance department at Transit Management of Alexandria. Parts Clerk duties include but are not limited to ordering parts and supplies, maintaining part stock, assisting with parts/inventory audits, shipping, receiving, and warehousing. This role also supports the daily maintenance of ATC vehicles and assist with a variety of duties to facilitate the day-to-day operations of the Maintenance Department to include bus-cleaning, organizing, stocking, labeling and general office/shop duties. Supports a safe and clean work environment, and ensures the safe keeping of inventory, equipment, supplies, and materials. This position is part time, weekends only, Saturday and Sunday, 9:00am to 7:30pm. The salary for this role is $22.72 per hour.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Supports with daily tasks of the parts department such as assessing parts and supplies, organizing parts in parts room, loading, and unloading deliveries of parts, inventory counts, labeling and stock reorganization.
- Tracks and monitors inventory for all maintenance related supplies such as safety or PPE inventory, hardware, and tools.
- Performs general office/shop duties including filing, answering phones and radios, recording road call information and shuttling vehicles to dealer(s) as directed.
- Completes shop safety tasks including updating and maintaining the SDS sheets, eyewash station inspections, and chemical and bulk fluid labeling.
- Assists with the annual inventory process and reporting schedules; updates and maintains accurate and up to date inventory records.
- Assists with ordering and purchasing of parts, organization and stocking parts room, inventory counts, year-end inventories, parts, and service books updates, and pick up and drop off parts and supplies.
- Pulls necessary parts for technicians and Shop Supervisors, and assists with parts issuance for vehicle repairs.
- Supports fuel and bulk fluids inventory, ordering, delivering, monitoring, and invoice processing.
- Assists with processes such as warranty claims, core returns and rebuild components as needed.
- Adheres to Company policies and procedures regarding purchasing and procurement processes.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of transit maintenance services, facility maintenance services, and general vehicle maintenance.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, etc.).
- Experience with labor/union environment.
- Ability to plan, organize and evaluate maintenance services.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Knowledge or willingness to learn safety regulations and corporate safety programs and policies.
- Basic knowledge or willingness to learn hardware and software programs specifically those related to fleet inventory and parts management.
- Basic knowledge or willingness to learn applicable Transportation based regulations such as of DOT, OSHA, FMCSA, and FTA requirements.
- Must possess time management and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to make independent decisions within scope of responsibility.
- Excellent customer relations skills are a must.
