Details

  • Highly visible, student-facing role on the Instruction team, reporting directly to the Director of Curriculum. As an Instructor’s Assistant with us, you’ll be responsible for integrating critical thinking, problem-solving, creative thinking, communication, collaboration, and global citizenship into your classes, tracking student progress, and helping students realize their potential.
  • You must be comfortable suggesting and implementing new ideas that improve the quality and integrity of Mission Bit and our curriculum. You understand that there are always new opportunities for improvement and ways to elevate our standards.

Schedule

Instructor Training

  • June 13, 2023—June 16, 2023

Class Dates

  • Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10 am - 2:30 pm
  • June 20, 2023—July 28, 2023

Weekly Meetings

  • 1 hour a week to meet with the instructional team (virtual)

Monthly Meetings:

  • 45 minutes/month to meet with the education and curriculum team

Hours:

  • 14.5 hours a week

Demo Day

  • TBD

  • In-person

Responsibilities

  • Support instructors with their lectures, live-coding demonstrations, coding challenges, and Q&A sessions with students 2 times a week in the classroom
  • Create an inclusive and community-based classroom culture surrounding the Mission Bit core values of social justice, community, accountability, smart risks and love
  • Dedicate 1-on-1 time to help students work on their projects
  • Develop individual and meaningful relationships with students
  • Communicate student progress and success throughout the course to the Program Staff so we can collectively support students’ learning
  • Ensure students are developing sufficient understanding to build their final project at the end of the semester that can be showcased at our Demo Da

Requirements

  • Have at least 2+ years of technical experience (college, bootcamp, industry) in HTML / CSS / UX / UI / Web Design OR Unity Game Design / Game Development / C# OR JavaScript / Data Visualization OR Python OR VR / AR / XR
  • Must have taught or assisted with at least one Mission Bit course in the past

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable and compelling in public speaking situations
    • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals
    • Self-starting with the ability to effectively work autonomously with little oversight
    • Intelligent, dedicated, flexible with a willingness to experiment

Benefits

Pay

Lead Instructor: $27.00 / hour

Instructor Assistant: $22.00 / hour
