Job Title: Rail Maintainer/Surveyor

Location: Holloman AFB, NM (On-Site)

Canvas is seeking a full-time, entry-level Rail Maintenance Mechanic/Surveyor to perform rail refurbishment for the Holloman High Speed Test Track (HHSTT), in particular, aligning the track rails to required precision using laser-based equipment.

In this role, you will serve as a rail operator performing hard physical labor that requires you to stoop, bend, pull, and push while also handling upwards of 50lbs in an outdoor environment with the end goal being to provide precision rail alignment for all sled tests. This position has the overall responsibility to ensure that fixture hardware is refurbished and aligned according to the Squadron Operational Instructions (OI's) along with the Rail Engineer's criteria for specific velocity tolerances for various missions.

Essential functions/duties include the following:

Duties:

• Repair rail hardware while following Squadron OI's.
• Maintain all rail maintenance tools and instruments being utilized.
• Align rail fixtures according to Rail Engineer's criteria.
• Communicate effectively to Rail Team 6 across various disciplines, both verbally, via email, and in writing.
• Use visual mathematical skills to read dial indicators while adding/subtracting values when aligning rail fixtures.
• Work in extreme outdoor elements, both hot and cold.
• Use a variety of tools that weigh upwards of 50 lbs.
• Work with other elements within the squadron.
• Communicate effectively with all squadron members and customers to achieve proper rail alignment.
• Work with and motivate team members across diverse functional areas while keeping good morale.
• Respond effectively to rapidly changing situations.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor of Science degree in relevant discipline. *Experience may be substituted for education with customer approval*
• 2 years of relevant experience.
• Requires proficiency in math and problem-solving skills.
• Must have ability to work within specific procedures and processes of the Air Force Test Center and DoD regulations and guidelines.
• Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with positive customer interactions and presentation capabilities.
• Ability to quickly understand the customer's overall technical objectives and mission and provide effective solutions.
• Exemplify a dedication to achieving the mission of the 846 TS as well as high standards of quality and excellence in performing the duties.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while being able to prioritize work to balance multiple projects and deadlines.
• Must have an active Department of Defense Secret security clearance or be able to obtain and maintain one.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• 5 years using laser alignment equipment.

Security Clearance:

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Other Essential Job Functions:

• Candidate may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
