Senior Associate Copywriter

We are looking for a Senior Associate Copywriter to join the Brand and Performance team within our Marketing department. In this role, the Senior Associate Copywriter will be responsible for copywriting on integrated campaigns, including ads, direct mail, emails, video scripts, social media, as well as collateral for conferences and events. This includes creating and presenting concepts, implementing marketing strategies, and developing short and long form copy solutions in collaboration with the content marketing team.

The ideal candidate will have experience in either an ad agency or fast-paced creative department where they have demonstrated the ability to collaborate, concept, write, and execute creative initiatives across a wide range of marketing disciplines. The Senior Associate Copywriter will be a creative problem solver with a penchant for clever lines, clear communication skills, and love to collaborate. In a world powered by AI, this individual will know how to rise above what’s predictable to write human-centered copy that can even make the robots blush. The Team: The Brand and Performance Marketing team encompasses brand strategy and experience, creative services, go-to-market content, paid media, and website strategy. Our team is entrusted with devising, producing, introducing, and refining superior go-to-market strategies from branding through to demand generation. Our ultimate goal is to successfully position athenahealth as the most admired and considered company in our category.

Job Responsibilities

• Collaborate with fellow writers and designers on the creative and content studio to execute on branding, marketing & advertising projects, and GTM campaigns

• Develop and write concepts for integrated campaigns, including emails, direct mail, and video, aligning copy with the genre and channel best practices

• Work with a team of creatives to ensure copy tone and style are consistent with visual tone and style, and adhere to brand guidelines

• Work with project teams to understand business objectives and audience demographics

• Translate creative direction and copy points from creative briefs into snappy, eye-catching copy that moves readers to action

• Maintain high standards of copywriting and exercising quality control on all copy, keeping track of detailed audience and segment terminology

Typical Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience

• 3+ years’ experience as a copywriter in an ad agency or internal marketing environment (including experience with integrated marketing campaigns)

• Must have an online portfolio showcasing relevant skills

• A strong understanding of marketing and advertising principles

• Exceptional writing skills

• Skilled at strategic brainstorming, campaign development, short and longer form copy

• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and effectively

• A quick creative thinker

• An understanding of the interplay between art and copy
