Examples of duties

The Medical Technologist IV position provides medical technology services in a hospital or other laboratory setting, under the direction of a physician or medical director; to include the establishment of procedures and maintenance of a laboratory unit, and the performance of laboratory tests; and other related duties as assigned.

This class of work may perform the most difficult and advanced tests, examinations and analysis in one or more specialized fields of medical technology, and assist in the general operation of a large laboratory.

Qualifications

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

License: Applicants must possess a current Clinical Laboratory Technologist license issued by the Department of Health, State of Hawaii.

Important note: Hawaii does not have reciprocity with other jurisdictions. Applicants must possess a current license issued by the State of Hawaii at the time of application.

Specialized Experience: Two (2) years of progressively responsible professional medical technologist experience which involved a variety of laboratory procedures and test on samples of body fluids, tissues and other materials, the purpose for which is to assist others in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of diseases.  At least one (1) year of experience must have been comparable to the next lower level.

The Medical Technologist III performs laboratory tests in one or more specialized fields of medical technology; and performs other related duties as assigned.
