About the role

Responsibilities

Peraton is currently seeking to hire a Senior Systems Engineer to become a part of Peratons’ Department of State (DoS) Diplomatic Security Cyber Mission (DSCM) program providing leading cyber and technology security experience to enable innovative, effective, and secure business processes. 

 

Location: On-site in Arlington, VA 

 

Key Requirements & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Manage:
    • Small IT/Support team of network and server administrators on a program of <60 users.
  • Windows Server Administration:
    • Manage and administer Windows servers, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of operating systems, roles, and features.
    • Ensure servers are properly configured for optimal performance, security, and reliability.
  • Professional Windows Cluster Setup:
    • Design, deploy, and maintain Windows Server Failover Clustering for high availability and fault tolerance.
    • Configure and manage Windows cluster resources, including shared storage and cluster networks.
  • Windows Server iSCSI Multipath Configuration:
    • Implement and configure iSCSI multipathing on Windows servers to ensure redundant and high-performance storage connectivity.
    • Troubleshoot and optimize iSCSI multipath configurations for maximum efficiency and reliability.
  • Networking Expertise:
    • Perform subnet configuration to segment and organize network traffic effectively.
    • Configure switches and VLANs to optimize network performance and security.
    • Troubleshoot networking issues, including connectivity problems and performance degradation.
    • Understand Fibre Channel and iSCSI SFP technologies and their integration within the network infrastructure.
  • Array Configuration:
    • Configure storage arrays, including Dell SAN storage such as ME40X series, to meet performance and capacity requirements.
    • Optimize array configurations for specific workloads and applications.
    • Troubleshoot array-related issues and implement solutions to ensure uninterrupted storage access.
  • MPiO Installation and Configuration:
    • Install and configure Multipath I/O (MPiO) software to enable redundant and load-balanced paths to storage devices.
    • Ensure MPiO configurations are properly optimized for performance and reliability.
  • Dell Server and SAN Storage Troubleshooting and Configuration:
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Dell servers and SAN storage systems, including hardware failures, performance bottlenecks, and configuration errors.
    • Configure Dell servers and SAN storage systems according to best practices and specific requirements.
  • Virtualization Administration:
    • Configure and maintain Virtual Desktop, Server, and Network Infrastructure (i.e. VMware, VDI, ESXi, Hyper-V) to include Active Directory, and File Share Servers.
  • You will:

    • Lead and manage small IT Support team and server administrators, manage domain accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment for <60 users while fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
    • Maintain, patch, and update software and hardware used in the digital forensics laboratory to ensure compatibility and effectiveness.
    • Install, troubleshoot, configure, and maintain on-premises network infrastructure, workstations, servers, system hardware, software, and peripheral equipment in accordance with CIF & Department standards.
    • Install, replace, configure, and optimize network routers and switches.
    • Validate and manage network backup and disaster recovery procedures.
    • Document and maintain connectivity diagrams for CIF hosted systems.
    • Propose and implement improvements to modernize existing network architecture and infrastructure to support virtualization, and cloud (Azure) integrations.
    • Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current on-premises IT infrastructure,including hardware, software, networking, and security components.
    • Identify strengths, weaknesses, bottlenecks, and areas of improvement in the existing
    • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including IT personnel, management, and otherrelevant groups, to gather insights on infrastructure pain points and business
    • Work with stakeholders to define future IT requirements and goals over the next threeyears, considering factors such as scalability, performance, security, and compliance.
    • Produce a detailed 3- to 5-year modernization plan,
