Job Description
We’re looking for an innovative and driven Lead Software Engineer to join our team in Denver, Colorado. Our stack is built around Java backend services using our REST API to coordinate multiple distributed applications running on a LAN at installation sites. As a Lead Software Engineer, you will focus on driving development of our current suite of applications and services, as well as directing the design and implementation of software powering new and upcoming products. While most of the software development is in China, you will be joining the newly established applications team here in Denver. This role is both hands-on with implementation and administrative, you will be writing code and establishing our development practices as we grow our local software team. As an early member of the Java team in the US you will also contribute to resolving support issues as we perfect the system with more and more real-world experience.
This role reports to the Head of Engineering at Prime Robotics and will work out of our Denver, Colorado headquarters.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop services, algorithms and interfaces for our next generation Robot Control system
- Assist in task planning, estimation, scheduling, and staffing
- Design and implement RESTful APIs
- Determine process improvements, best practices, and develop new processes
- If capable, design ML functions to improve performance of our robot systems
- Design, develop, modify, implement, and support software components anywhere in the software stack
- Determine root cause for the most complex software issues and develop practical, efficient, and permanent technical solutions
- Contribute to 2nd level support issues as needed by US customers
- Be available for off-hours calls with your colleagues in other countries
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge and 5+ years hands-on experience on Java as a developer or as a lead
- Experience with deploy and test on Linux, Windows and Windows Server 2019 operating systems.
- Spring framework , Spring Boot
- Vue.js, Node.js, npm, and Electron familiarity a plus (some or all)
- Individual should possess a Bachelor's degree in Computing, Information Technology or other relevant field (physical science , mathematics)
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of duties
- Solid understanding of SQL and distributed databases and their performance tuning
- Remote Deployment, Configuration and Monitoring experience a plus
- Micro-Services ( RESTful Webservices)
- Container technologies like Docker
Experience in the following areas:
- Deep experience in overall system design and implementation — how they scale, how they should fit together, and how they're likely to break.
- SAFe/Agile development frameworks, experience using Jira/similar tools
- Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools and technologies
- Experience with algorithm development
- C++ or Python programming experience a plus
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
