Occupational Summary

The Crime Prevention Manager reports to the Major

 

Level Characteristics

Management of Support Services and assists in providing direction and operational management for overall university, medical center, and Health System security by working with administrators of schools and centers, facilities managers, and university, Medical  Center, and Health System community members to provide progressive, coordinated safety and crime prevention services. Ensures quality assurance and customer satisfaction and benchmarking the best crime prevention programs. This person is responsible for maintaining the daily operational performance management of the crime prevention program in addition to direct supervision of the functions.

 

 

Work Performed

 

• Represents Campus Safety and Security (CSS) on security projects and ensures that university and medical center crime prevention standards and customer's needs are addressed in accordance to CSS quality assurance standards.
• Oversees crime prevention programs, costs, and quality control and provides timely crime prevention project status reports to superiors on a regular basis.
• Reviews and analyzes crime trends, and criminal methods of operation, developing strategies to address each.
• Meets and works with managers of CSS, Duke Police, university, medical center, Health System schools/centers, facilities services/project management, and security integrators to provide guidance and oversight on crime prevention matters.
• Ensures compliance with CSS crime prevention standards, policies, and procedures.
• Investigate criminal incidents and make recommendations to reduce and/or eliminate vulnerability to crime. Provides direct supervision for Crime Prevention positions.
• Develop and oversee the implementation of contingency plans.
• Oversees the operational readiness, schedule, and or assigns presenters of crime prevention programs. Manage the creation and updates of crime prevention programs.
• Lead, develop, and manage relationships and partnerships with universities, medical centers, and Health Systems departments to achieve crime prevention outcomes.
• Deliver guidance standards specified; educate, inform, and advise community members of customer service dedicated to excellence in service, achieve performance on the practical application of the vision of a sustainable community on a day-to-day basis.
• Develop and monitor University and Medical Center select agent, radiation, animal research, and nuclear and security programs to ensure they surpass government standards.
• Works with senior divisional managers to ensure continuity between CSS departments and the Associate Vice President for Campus Safety and Security. Develop and oversee the budget.

Minimum Qualifications

 

 

Education

Work generally requires a Bachelor's degree.

 

Experience

 

Work requires a knowledge of law enforcement methods, techniques and experience. procedures normally acquired through one year of law enforcement

 

Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

 

Prefer a bachelor's degree in Criminal justice, Law enforcement, or related field from an accredited institution. ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP), or Physical Security Professional (PSP) certifications preferred.
