OVERVIEW:

The Camp/Hike Sales Lead will bring their passion and experience to life by utilizing their expertise to educate and advocate for our explorers in store experience. The lead will be expected to provide thoughtful product recommendations that fit the skill/experience level of each explorer that visits Public Lands. As the Camp/Hike Sales Lead they are responsible for directing workflow and overseeing the daily operations within the department under the direction of the Assistant Store Manager. In addition, through elevated customer service the lead will build meaningful relationships with explorers within the camping and hiking communities. Additional responsibilities will also include driving results, ensuring Company standards, and assisting with storewide operations as needed. 

• Responsible for driving the highest level of customer service within our Camp/Hike department while engaging in behaviors that are in-line with company’s service and selling standards. 

• Bring to life the power of opinion. Making sure the explorer experience includes product experts who provide consultative advice while demonstrating excellent product knowledge. 

• Uphold Public Lands standards for merchandise presentation, showcasing the best apparel and equipment brands in sporting goods by following established floor sets, signing requirements, price changes, replenishment and recovery processes, in-stock, etc. 

• Guide and educate explorers through their purchase by communicating information on use and maintenance of their Camp/Hike equipment and accessories. 

• Assist the store management team with general supervision in the store in accordance with 

• Company policies and procedures, including opening and closing the store, performing Front End and Cash Office functions. 

• Assist manager with department scheduling, directing workflow, daily guide assignments, and monitoring project status. 

• Communicate information to department guides regarding Company initiatives, programs, promotions, etc. 

• Maintaining Company loss prevention standards and controls 

• Perform other tasks as assigned by management. 

• Assist with training associates on Company procedures and programs; this includes new associate training and cross training current associates. 

• Train and mentor new hires by sharing experience, knowledge, and best practices.

• Share timely feedback on projects, tasks and deliverables.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Flexible availability – including nights, weekend, and holidays. 

• Prior retail sales experience (or customer-focused experience) preferred. 

• Ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull and lift 15 to 35 lbs. items occasionally (up to 25 times per hour). 

• Ability to work extended periods of time (up to 4 hours) standing or walking. 

• Ability to work at heights greater than 4 feet with use of a ladder, aerial lifting device, or platform.

• Ability to perform repetitive motions for short periods of time (up to 2 hours continuously).

Targeted Pay Range: $18.50 - $28.25. Starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, location, experience and position offered.
