Financial Accountant - Lease Accounting

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lease Accountant is responsible for assisting in all lease accounting services provided by Omaha Shared Services. This position will be responsible for reviewing lease documents and preparing lease templates including accounting entries. In addition, this position will assist the manager with maintaining the lease database, technical research, policy interpretation and special projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Review lease documents, prepare lease templates and accounting entries for the agencies in accordance with the applicable accounting guidance and internal policies
- Assist in implementation and maintenance of lease database
- Assist in ensuring compliance with Sarbanes Oxley
- Assist finance personnel at Shared Services to answer their questions and to provide accounting support to them on lease accounting issues
- Assist in providing accounting guidance, support, information, and answers for areas of responsibility as needed for the agencies, external and internal auditors, and Omaha Shared Services
- Regular and reliable attendance required
- Ability to work onsite in an office environment with limited remote work alternatives, consistent with applicable law
EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in accounting desired
- Lease accounting experience is desired
- Very strong Excel proficiency required as well as strong general personal computer skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills required
- Good organizational skills and ability to work as a member of a team
