Operations Performance Engineer- (Operations Analytics Engineer) Health System Operations-Hybrid-Full-Time-Days

The Healthcare Systems Engineer will play a critical role in optimizing healthcare operations by leveraging data analytics, process improvement methodologies, and technology-driven solutions. This position will support system-wide initiatives focused on capacity planning, labor productivity, operational efficiency, and strategic growth. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional with a strong analytical background and experience in healthcare systems engineering, data analytics and process improvement.

  • Support improvement and analytics projects focused on organizational objectives, including strategy integration, efficiency improvements, and standardization.
  • Develop and implement data analytics models in Excel, R, Python, or Tableau to support capacity planning, including inpatient bed utilization, outpatient capacity, procedural and diagnostic resources, and ancillary services.
  • Conduct growth assessments to evaluate new business opportunities, service lines, and system-wide growth initiatives using market and financial analysis.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational efficiency, quality, and financial performance.
  • Partner with departments to develop data reporting tools and analytics for enhanced visibility and decision-making.
  • Support the system-wide labor productivity management program to optimize staffing, reduce labor expenses, and standardize processes.
  • Collaborate with frontline managers to identify opportunities for labor optimization, cost reductions, and process redesign to improve efficiency.
  • Redesign staffing policies, templates, and work assignment procedures to align with patient volume and operational needs.
  • Model staffing adjustments following technology implementations and process redesign initiatives.
  • Lead projects focused on redesigning cost center architecture to improve transparency, productivity, and financial metric tracking.
  • Collaborate with clinical and operational leadership to ensure alignment between strategic goals and operational feasibility.
  • Support data analytics and simulation modeling projects to proactively assess current and forecasted bed capacity, considering strategic projects such as construction and facility moves.
  • Evaluate the impact of programmatic decisions on ancillary services, including lab, radiology, and pharmacy operations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and patient care delivery.
  • Help foster a culture of accountability and data-driven decision-making across the health system.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support organizational goals.
  • Provide on-site consultation to hospital directors and managers to help optimize resource utilization (labor, supply, and other areas).
  • Oversee data upload and maintenance processes for labor productivity tools, ensuring data accuracy and timely reporting.
  • Manage deployment of labor productivity tools to new sites, including coordinating with stakeholders and validating data streams.
  • Serve as an operational resource for problem identification and resolution, team collaboration, and decision-making processes.

Decision-Making Responsibilities:

  • Interpret information from a hospital- or system-wide perspective within the context of operational procedures and guidelines.
  • Select appropriate methodologies and procedural sequences to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Identify major project phases, key stakeholders, timelines, resource needs, and potential obstacles to develop comprehensive project plans.
  • Utilize standard project management tools to track and communicate project status effectively.
  • Bachelors’ degree in industrial engineering, Data Science, Healthcare Administration or related field; Masters preferred
  • 0-2 years of experience in systems and process improvement operations management or similar field (greater than 2 years preferred)
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and drive evidence-based decisions.
  • Proficiency in analytics tools such as R, SQL, and Tableau.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Experience in healthcare operations, labor productivity management, or system-wide process improvement is highly desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment focused on operational excellence.<
