General Statement of Job
Under limited supervision, supervises plans and directs the activities of the District in order to ensure the proper administration of District operating functions, including Informational Technology, Student Transportation Services, Facility Services, Maintenance Services, Security and Disaster Preparedness Services.  Supervises department staff; reviews work of subordinates for completeness and accuracy.  Reports to the Superintendent.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:

  • Supervises the operation of the District's operations areas; assigns workloads and establishes work schedules; directs and supervises duties of assigned staff.  Supervisory duties include instructing; assigning, reviewing and planning work of others; maintaining standards; coordinating activities; allocating personnel; selecting new employees; acting on employee problems; and recommending and approving employee transfers, promotions, discipline, discharge and salary increases.
  • Reviews the work of subordinates for completeness and accuracy; evaluates and makes recommendations as appropriate; offers advice and assistance as needed.
  • Attends and participates in board committee meetings, executive team, and routine board meetings.
  • Reviews all travel and approves budget for travel.
  • Oversees ERP development and implementation.
  • Administers the assigned functions of the district so that they are maintained in accordance with the state law, board policies, and sound business principals.
  • Assists the superintendent in maximizing efforts to achieve the goals and objectives of the budget and operations areas and the school district in general.
  • Recommends policy direction to the superintendent and the board of commissioners as appropriate to effectively facilitate the budget and operational affairs of the school district.
  • Serves on the superintendent's administrative cabinet and participates in meetings of the board of commissioners as assigned by the superintendent.
  • Assumes responsibility for fostering the application of sound business practices throughout the budget and operational areas and the district in general.
  • Prepares and submits reports and documents as required or requested by the superintendent or the board of commissioners.
  • Conducts an annual evaluation of all assigned personnel and share the results orally and in writing with each individual along with appropriate suggestions for improvement and overall professional growth.
  • Participates in annual budget planning and development for the district by advising the superintendent and supporting the involvement of the administrative cabinet and input from the district's personnel in general.
  • Organizes and conducts public meetings on the affairs of the district as assigned or approved by the superintendent.
  • Operates a variety business and office equipment such as a computer, printer, calculator, telephone, etc.
  • Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the Superintendent, other administrators, District personnel, Board members, applicants, professional peers, attorneys, consultants and the general public.
  • Complies with all federal laws, state statutes, Board policies, administrative rules, and/or directives.

Additional Duties:
Performs other related duties as required.
 
Minimum Education and Training
Requires a Master's degree in business administration, accounting, education administration or related field supplemented by three to five years of experience in administration, business, management or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. 
 
Minimum Qualifications and Standards Required
Physical Requirements:  
Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines and equipment including a computer, calculator, telephone, etc. Must be able to exert up to five pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for periods of time.  Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of five to ten pounds.
