JOB SUMMARY:

As a Rail & Retail Operations Supervisor at Dolese, you are responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient execution of daily rail terminal operations, ensuring that the right materials are positioned, unloaded, and handled safely to support customer demand and logistics plans. This role provides direct, hands-on supervision of hourly production and maintenance employees, coordinates daily work activities, and ensures rail terminal operations are performed in accordance with company standards, safety requirements, and regulatory expectations. The Rail & Retail Operations Supervisor partners closely with the Logistics Manager and rail support teams to execute rail plans, maintain reliable yard operations, and support consistent product flow to customers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Enforce all company policies and applicable local, state, and federal safety regulations, including MSHA and OSHA requirements.
Take an active leadership role in the site safety execution by leading relevant topics for catwalk conversations, reinforcing safety expectations, and ensuring compliance with established programs.
Ensure all assigned employees receive required task training and that training documentation is completed accurately and on time.
Conduct regular site inspections to identify and address safety, maintenance, and compliance issues.
Investigate incidents and safety concerns, identify contributing factors and root cause, and implement corrective actions in coordination with management.
Support environmental compliance activities at the assigned location(s), including dust control, SPCC, SWP3, air quality practices, and required inspections, as applicable.
Supervise daily rail terminal activities including railcar unloading, material handling, stockpiling, and loadout operations in accordance with established plans and procedures.
Monitor daily operating conditions, inventory levels, and material flow to support customer demand and logistics schedules.
Coordinate staffing and work assignments for production crews, adjusting resources as needed to address operating conditions, safety considerations, and schedule changes.
Conduct monthly stockpile inventories and complete required inventory adjustments and documentation.
Coordinate site-level execution at assigned location(s) of inbound and outbound rail movements in alignment with plans established by the Logistics Manager, including day-to-day communication with BNSF and Union Pacific to address scheduling, spotting, and operational issues.
Communicate with quarries, sales, logistics teams, and railroad contacts to execute daily rail activities, identify operational constraints, and escalate issues as appropriate.
Support efforts to avoid demurrage, detention, or accessorial charges by maintaining yard readiness, workforce availability, and timely communication of site conditions.
Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance execution for rail terminal infrastructure, conveyors, and material handling systems to support safe and reliable operations.
Ensure plant and mobile equipment inspections, lubrication, repairs, and preventive maintenance activities are completed in accordance with maintenance programs.
Review maintenance findings, including inspection results and oil analysis data, and escalate concerns or trends to maintenance and management teams as needed.
Coordinate with maintenance teams and vendors to address identified issues, minimize downtime, and support continuous equipment reliability.
Monitor dust suppression systems and ensure proper operation and maintenance to remain within regulatory and environmental limits.
Provide direct supervision of assigned hourly production, maintenance, and support employees.
