Summary:
This position is responsible for programmatic and administrative facets of signature Regional Math & Science offerings, including Science Olympiad, summer camps, and outreach programs. This position will also work closely with RMSC colleagues and other partners both on and off campus on program development and implementation.
Primary Duties:
- Develop, plan, coordinate, and manage outreach programs, events, and activities in liberal arts and sciences for the community and K-12 teachers and students.
- Provide support and expertise to GVSU faculty and students on related outreach and curriculum.
- Manage the execution of Science Olympiad and additional programs.
- Create, plan, and instruct professional development opportunities for pre-service and in-service teachers that use the resources of the university and community to enhance teachers’ knowledge, skills and understanding in STEM.
- Manage and administer budget management for the program, including monitoring program budgets, budget planning, and expenditures, in coordination with Director.
- Assist in the development and implementation of the RMSC planning and budgeting processes.
- Maximize the impact of programs through grants and gifts by leveraging new and existing funding sources.
- Collect and analyze data, both quantitative and qualitative, to track development and implementation of the STEM initiatives and drive continuous improvement.
- Execute the plan of operation per the grant’s guidelines.
- Lead and consult in the application and writing process of future grants.
- Attend training and professional development sessions to stay current on best practices.
- Build and maintain working relationships and collaborations with target schools, community partners, and GVSU campus partners; serve on committees as needed.
- As part of our deeply collaborative approach, maintain strong relationships with campus partners (offices, faculty governance committees) throughout the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs.
- Supervise student colleague work on a project basis.
- Perform other duties as required/assigned by leadership.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM or related field.
- Minimum three to five (3-5) years of related science outreach or teaching experience.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Proficiency with various communication and productivity tools (Microsoft Office, etc.)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various locations and to load and transport materials, displays and other equipment.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Master's degree in STEM or related field.
- Six to ten (6-10) years of science outreach or teaching experience.
- Knowledge of Michigan and national K-12 science education standards.
- Teaching experience in K-12

Working Conditions:
Normal office environment. Some travel and occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
