Why do we need you? Well, we are looking for a Senior Procurement Specialist who will bring excellent communication skills and a successful background in contract drafting and commercial negotiations. You will report to the Manager of Procurement and will be responsible for working collaboratively across Calendly to scale our procurement function.
A day in the life of a Senior Procurement Specialist at Calendly
You will act as a strong partner for our internal stakeholders and vendors to bridge gaps, build consensus , and meet business requirements. You will operate with a sense of urgency, represent the company with professionalism and positivity, and be eager to tackle challenges in a fast paced environment. You will strive to improve processes and support Calendly’s growth. This is an exciting and critical role for the business that will help ensure our growth is efficient and scalable.
On a typical day, you will be working on:
- Leading complex contract negotiations (net new, renewal, statements of work, and amendments) for indirect goods and services across various categories, primarily SaaS
- Reviewing purchase requests with business owners and appropriate subject matter experts to provide an informed assessment of business requirements
- Collaborating cross-functionally with legal, IT & business systems, infosec, privacy, and finance on a regular basis, advising on commercial and legal terms and identifying areas requiring continuous monitoring
- Managing competitive sourcing events (e.g., RFPs), focusing on efficient preparation of the RFXs and effective contract negotiations, while mitigating risk of business delay or disruption
- Demonstrating procurement’s value to the company through securing and reporting out on optimal business outcomes and cost savings
- Supporting objectives and key results as well as identifying and pursuing continuous improvement opportunities in the procurement policy, processes, and systems
What do we need from you?
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive procurement and contract negotiation experience required, tech sector preferred
- Bachelor's degree, preferred
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated knowledge of an experience in negotiating key commercial terms and conditions
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate sound judgment with minimal supervision and intervention, sometimes in ambiguous situations
- Knowledge of common pricing models and negotiation levers
- Must be skilled in a digital environment. Intermediate Excel experience preferred. Most MS Office and Google Suite tools are essential to this job.
- Experience in a fast-paced SaaS or start-up environment, preferred
- Experience with a procure-to-pay (P2P) and competitive sourcing solution, highly preferred (e.g., ZipHQ, Coupa, SAP)
- A track record for problem solving, flexibility, urgency, and strong communication skills
- Authorized to work lawfully in the United States of America as Calendly does not engage in immigration sponsorship at this time
