The Diabetes Operating Unit focuses on improving the lives of those within the global diabetes community. In this exciting role you will have overall responsibility for delivering mobile apps programs that are part of our therapy eco-system.

You will report to our Software Engineering Director and will play a key technical leadership role for the software organization. You will guide the successful completion of major programs and projects whose end products will impact patients around the world.

** This position is onsite in San Diego, CA or Northridge, CA (hybrid)

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • First and foremost, build and develop a strong SW organization creating a positive team culture with a can-do attitude
  • Provide resource planning for development programs and ensure that development programs are served
  • Establish infrastructure to drive efficiency and scale-ability
  • Work on initiatives to drive continuously improvements in processes and procedures
  • Manage a team of experienced engineers who will exercise independence in their assignments but will look to you to provide tactical and operational leadership and coaching on performance and career development. You will be responsible for leading, directing and reviewing their work and providing feedback
  • Use your leadership skills especially as it pertains to communicating effectively across a matrix using influence and cross-collaboration skills
  • Provide leadership to Engineers across multiple sites, consisting of employees and contract personnel
  • Follow standards defined by the Food and Drug Administration for the medical device industry

  • Knowledge in recent mobile apps technologies and languages
  • Knowledge of technology trends and domain expertise
  • Self-motivated to strive for excellence

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Sciences and 7+ years software engineering experience with 5+ years of managerial experience
  • Or, Master’s Degree in Engineering or Sciences and 5+ years software engineering experience with 5+ years of managerial experience
