About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated R&D Laboratory Supervisor with a strong foundation in engineering or scientific education, technical expertise, and a commitment to quality. This role will lead a high-performing, cross-functional team in a fast-paced medical device environment, overseeing routine and non-routine particulate testing. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of leadership, technical acumen, and project management skills, with a focus on applying scientific and engineering principles to drive excellence.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Oversee daily laboratory operations, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
- Maintain a safe and effective working environment aligned with regulatory standards.
- Support capital planning and resource allocation for laboratory operations.
- Develop, monitor, and report laboratory performance metrics and quality indicators, delivering regular updates to management on lab operations and project milestones.
- Apply scientific methods and engineering principles to troubleshoot testing challenges and support method development.
- Champion a culture of excellence that supports R&D and ensures adherence to the Quality System.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to patient safety and product quality.
- Lead and develop a team of technicians, fostering cross-training and technical growth.
- Ensure compliance with good documentation practices, the Quality Policy, and all relevant quality procedures.
- Serve as the primary contact for project intake and initial screening.
- Prioritize and coordinate project work requests based on resource availability and timelines.
- Foster strong partnerships with cross-functional and global teams, including R&D, Process Development, Regulatory, Design Assurance, and Manufacturing.
What We’re Looking For In You:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of R&D laboratory experience, or 2 years with an advanced relevant degree.
- Laboratory experience in a regulated environment
- Experience in test method development
- Familiarity performing statistical analysis on data sets
- Proficiency in Design of Experiments (DOE) methodology
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a demonstrated application of the scientific method
- Adept at developing technical documentation that ensures regulatory compliance and effectively communicates complex information to cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with testing in regulated environments
- One year of direct or indirect supervisory experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Laboratory experience in medical device
- Experience in statistical analysis and software (ex. Minitab)
- Experience in test method development within the medical device industry
- Testing in medical devices
