Senior Software Engineer, Snyk Open Source

Our Opportunity

In modern software development, much of any project's code relies on Open Source packages. These are out there in the world, visible for anyone, and within that code there are vulnerabilities. As part of our team, you'll join us on our mission to continually improve our ability to identify these Open Source components and vulnerabilities.

We’re looking for an experienced and collaborative software engineer to build the next generation of what we call Snyk’s Open Source Scan Engine and a world-leading Open Source Knowledge Base.

You’ll spend your time:

• Writing algorithms for state of the art search technology written in high performance C++ code
• Building efficient dispersion APIs for consumers of Open Source data  
• Exploring and establishing new abilities we need to develop our product to further achieve our mission
• Working across the stack and entire development life cycle to build, test, deploy and support high quality, reliable, fast services that power Snyk
• Continuously delivering small, high quality changes to production, at a sustainable pace
• Identifying potential improvements in our team processes and workflows and driving the changes needed to address them
• Participating in our on-call rotation (compensated)

 

What you’ll need:

• Experience developing large systems using C++ or Rust
• An affinity for a fast-paced start-up environment that respects its engineers and customers
• Prioritization of collaboration, pair programming, and code review
• Ability to work sustainably, quickly, and iteratively
• Understand the importance of testing and code quality

We’d be lucky if you:

• Have worked with open source before or have contributed to open source projects yourself
• Have experience in Linux & modern C++, used CMake and want to work in C++17/20
• Know Go or Rust, or want to learn
• Have production-grade experience with Kubernetes or have worked with any of the popular cloud platform offerings from Google, Amazon and Microsoft Azure
• Have cloud-native and/or Docker experience
• Have experience supporting and running software in production
