What We Are Looking For:

Bandwidth is seeking an experienced Director of Security to lead our security and safety efforts and ensure the protection of our people, assets, and facilities. The ideal candidate for this role will have a background in corporate security and/or law enforcement or military service and possess strong strategic planning skills. As the Director of Security, you will be responsible for developing security strategies for the headquarters campus in Raleigh and other offices worldwide, overseeing active and passive security systems, overseeing security personnel, and implementing company-wide emergency response and safety plans and initiatives.

What You'll Do:

Security Strategy and Planning

  • Work with senior leadership and ultimately every Bandmate to translate company culture, values, and strategies into practical application for safety and security.
  • Responsible for the creation, delivery, and clear articulation of certain principles and guidelines, as well as a continuously-evolving collection of best practices around Safety and Security.
  • Lead the identification, selection, contracting, and long-term supervision of resources and contracted partnerships. find and engage with best-in-class experts.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive security strategies for Bandwidth's headquarters campus which includes office space, a school, fitness center, parking deck, and event barn.
  • Develop and manage budgets, timelines, and resourcing plans for operational and major capital projects that include Safety and Security elements. .
  • Create security plans for Bandwidth's other office locations in the United States and international offices, ensuring a consistent and effective security approach company-wide.

Overseeing Third-Party Security Guard Service

  • Manage and supervise the third-party security guard service responsible for on-site security personnel at any office where such service is deemed appropriate.
  • Ensure that security guards are trained, equipped, and prepared to respond to various security situations.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and audits to maintain high-quality security services.

Access Control and Security Cameras

  • Partner with the Information Security Team to be sure Bandwidth remains compliant with regulatory and/or other 3rd party security requirements.
  • Partner with the Information Technology Team to coordinate and oversee access control systems, including key card access and visitor management, to maintain a secure and controlled environment.
  • Partner with the Information Technology Team to manage and maintain security camera systems to monitor and record activities on campus.
  • Ensure compliance with privacy laws and ethical guidelines when handling surveillance data.

Emergency Response and Crisis Management

  • Develop and regularly update emergency response plans for various scenarios, including natural disasters, workplace incidents, and security threats.
  • Lead crisis management teams and coordinate responses in emergency situations to safeguard employees and assets.

Security Compliance and Training

  • Stay current with security industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide security training and awareness programs for employees to enhance the company's overall security culture.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant security laws, regulations, and standards.

What You Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • 15+ years in law enforcement, military, or corporate security management.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute security strategies in a corporate environment.
