What are the roles?

 

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) has a complex landscape which requires dynamic and innovative rehabilitation and return to work solutions to appropriately support the individuals and broader organisational objectives.

 

The National Injury Management team exists for the purposes of ensuring the AFP complies with its Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation legislative obligations to mitigate, and reduce the impact of workplace injury and illness. The team strives to enhance operational success by providing both a service, encompassing advice, guidance, education, and continuous improvement in injury management practices.

 

Injury Management is an essential element of SHIELD. SHIELD is a health capability embedding health and wellbeing into day-to-day operations for AFP employees by providing services across Australia and supporting the health of the frontline.

 

The AFP is seeking applications from suitably qualified applicants to fill two vacancies in the positions of: 

 

  • Team Leader Injury Management Strategy, and 
  • Team Leader Injury Management Operations

These positions are Canberra based, however, the role/s can be undertaken remotely from another Australia based geographic location. The holder of the position will need to be able to travel to Canberra on an ad-hoc basis as required.

What will you do?

Team Leader Injury Management Strategy

 

The Team Leader Injury Management (TL IM) Strategy role is responsible for the delivery of AFP’s strategic injury management intentions. This is inclusive of the Rehabilitation Management System (RMS), compliance with relevant legislations and developing and enhancing the AFP’s rehabilitation and return to work strategies. The role will predominately be focussed on managing the National Injury Management team resources inclusive of Rehabilitation Case Managers and administrative support officers.

 

The National Injury Management resources are focused on large scale projects and strategic works to support and improve rehabilitation provided to AFP employees following a workplace injury or illness and improving AFP’s compliance. TL IM Strategy works alongside and collaboration with TL IM Operations to ensure trends, themes and rehabilitation concerns are addressed holistically with respect to the AFP RMS.
