Role Overview:
NYL Direct is seeking an experienced Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer to enhance the quality and reliability of our software products. This role involves developing and executing manual and automated tests, with a strong focus on API and integration testing. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring seamless interactions between back-end services and enterprise applications.
What You’ll Do:
- Design, develop, and execute manual and automated test cases for API, web services, and batch applications.
- Validate back-end services and integration workflows using tools such as Postman, SoapUI (ReadyAPI), and REST Assured.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Selenium, Groovy, JavaScript, or equivalent scripting languages.
- Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and other QA engineers in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Lead end-to-end testing efforts, coordinating with internal and external teams for complex integration scenarios.
- Establish and enhance best practices for test case design, defect tracking, and quality assurance processes.
- Perform database validations using SQL queries, stored procedures, and data integrity checks.
- Drive continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) automation leveraging tools like Jenkins, Bamboo, or GitHub Actions.
- Conduct performance and security testing to identify system vulnerabilities and scalability issues.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior QA engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and process improvement.
- Document and report test execution results, defects, and root cause analyses using JIRA or equivalent tracking tools.
What you'll bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in software testing, with a strong emphasis on API and integration testing.
- Expertise in RESTful API and SOAP web service testing.
- Experience with performance testing (JMeter, LoadRunner) and security testing.
- Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, or Cypress.
- Proficiency in SQL for backend testing, including stored procedures and relational database design.
- Strong experience with source control tools (Bitbucket, Git, GitHub) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of JSON and XML data models.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
- Ability to troubleshoot and triage issues across different technology stacks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Bonus points for these:
- Expertise in API mocking, service virtualization, and test data management.
- Familiarity with cloud-based testing environments (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
- Background in the life insurance industry or financial services domain.
