Senior Accounting Analyst, External Reporting

THE ROLE

We are looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to join the Sotheby’s Global Controllership organization who will be an integral member of the financial reporting team working on quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements, the monthly and quarterly close process, special projects and more.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements (financials and footnotes) for the Sotheby’s external financial reporting and related statutory financial statements 
• Key member of the team that supports the annual global financial statement audits, including preparation of various audit supports requests and analyses
• Support the Company’s monthly and quarterly book-close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and related consolidation/close processes, etc. 
• Maintenance of the Companys’ Lease Query system (act as the system admin, enter new leases, update discount rates, etc.), monthly entries for Sotheby’s lease transactions, etc.
• Involvement with special projects as they arise
• Assist in the implementation of new accounting standards, as applicable

IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

• Minimum four year degree in accounting; CPA license strongly preferred
• 2-4 years of relevant accounting experience; Big Four experience preferred 
• Organized, detail oriented and a great team player a must
• Proficient with Word and Excel 
• Knowledge of SAP and/or HFM / Oracle is a plus
• Willingness to take on additional responsibilities
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment
• Interest in the world of art and luxury is a plus

The proposed base salary for this position ranges from $85,000-$100,000. In addition to base salary successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus, as well as a competitive benefits package. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
