Position Overview:
The Registered Nurse (RN)-Harm Reduction Center will primarily be responsible for the evaluation and implementation of health care plans for individual clients enrolled in SFAF Hepatitis C Treatment Program and clinical service provision with a focus on health care for people who use drugs and those experiencing homelessness.  As the RN, your primary responsibility is to act as a patient advocate and a liaison between clients, their families, and health care providers.
 
This position will also be expected to provide clinical care to clients including health assessments, delivering STI/HIV treatment and prevention activities, wound care, and dispensing medications.  This position functions under an expanded scope of practice with the SFAF Medical Director.
 
This is a full-time position working 40 hours/week that may include working on Saturdays.

EssentiaL DUTIES:
 

• Clinical Services: Works under an expanded scope of practice with the Medical Director to provide care to clients seeking screening for sexual health services, Hepatitis C treatment, Pre Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and non-Occupational Post Exposure Prophylaxis (nPEP) with a focus on health care for people who use drugs and those experiencing homelessness. Provides direct clinical services as defined by Magnet’s protocols and treatment guidelines including obtaining medical history and physical, specimen collection, high-volume phlebotomy, administration of treatments, performing point of care lab tests, client counseling, and education. Provides simple to intermediate level soft tissue and wound care. Provides referrals as appropriate to outside providers.

• Research: Supports research projects at the HRC.  Adheres to research protocols. Supports regulatory compliance through proper documentation and implementation of research interventions.
• Laboratory/phlebotomy: Performs high volume phlebotomy, supporting the in-house laboratory, serves as an HIV test counselor and other duties as assigned.  

OTHER Responsibilities:
 

• Administrative: Serves as a clinic leader and assists in the coordination of clinic operations, flow, and client care. Completes documentation of reports and clinical services provided with a high level of detail and thoroughness. Provides other professional or administrative duties as required.
• Public Health Reporting: Ensures Confidential Morbidity Reports are submitted to the Department of Public Health and addresses any submission issues.

• Policy Development: Works with the Senior Director of Clinical Services to develop clinic policies and procedures.
