GENERAL DESCRIPTION: 


This seasonal position will serve as the educator/programmer for Curt Gowdy’s Little House on the Park, a unique venue within Curt Gowdy State Park. The mission is to educate and inspire children to understand the importance of kindness in the world.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.


  • Little House on the Park requires a creative individual to execute programs that inspire children to learn and behave with kindness. 
  • We are looking for candidates with a passion for working with children and fostering goodness in the world. 
  • Successful candidates will work with the park and Cheryl Gowdy & family to promote and facilitate kindness programming for children and families who come to Little House events. 
  • This facility primarily caters to youth ages 3-12, and their families. Example programs include story-time and kindness-oriented crafts.
  • Working at the Little House requires organization and the ability to execute programming based on a planned schedule, along with flexibility as different groups come and go throughout the day.

Examples of duties

PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS: 


Preference may be given to applicants who can work evenings, outdoors, and on a Friday through Sunday schedule.

**Must be passionate about the mission and vision and be able to connect program attendees to that vision.
**Must be at least 16 years of age.
**Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
 

KNOWLEDGE: 


  • Skill in educating children
  • Classroom management skills
  • Public speaking and general public interaction

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • Work will be performed outdoors in all weather conditions.


NOTES: 


  • FLSA:  Non-exempt
  • This is a seasonal position, working Friday through Sunday with some planning days before the regular schedule begins.
  • The employment period is approximately Memorial Day to Labor Day.
