About the role

Job Summary
Manages the overall data reporting and processing that supports train operations. Completes performance objectives for assigned staff and monitors accomplishments toward those objectives. Establishes schedules and prioritizes workflow. Supports Six Sigma projects and implements process control points.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for the [INSERT SHIFT] Customer Operations team.
  • Resolve problems and recommend and implement long-term solutions.
  • Establish schedules and prioritize workflow.
  • Conduct safety briefings and ensure all employees conduct themselves in a safe way.
  • Direct all functions associated with work orders, interchange, Terminal Yard Management System (TYMS), Industrial Inventory Demurrage Switching (IIDS) system, On Board Work Order (OBWO), and other data related activities.
  • Ensure policies are followed in accordance with department and company guidelines.
  • Ensure quality controls are in place to ensure compliance with department and company goals.
  • Direct all functions associated with work orders, interchange, Terminal Yard Management System (TYMS), Industrial Inventory Demurrage Switching (IIDS/AUM) system, On Board Work Order (OBWO/MRT), and other data related activities.
  • Manage customer diversions and support automation of the work order process.
  • Manage and reduce cost associated with error delivery cars.
  • Drive the automation of manual Customer Operations tasks by maintaining tables and building measurements.
  • Measure and support the Train Accuracy measurement with internal customers
  • Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager



Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree
  • 1 or more years of supervisory experience in Field Operations, Transportation, Logistics, or the CSX Customer Operations department

Equivalent Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 5 or more years of supervisory experience in Field Operations, Transportation, Logistics, or the CSX Customer Operations department

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree
  • 7 or more years of experience in Field Operations, Transportation, Logistics, or the CSX Customer Operations department
  • 7 or more years of supervisory experience in Field Operations, Transportation, Logistics, or the CSX Customer Operations department

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of Transportation Communications International Union (TCU) agreement
  • Mainframe systems skills
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of the Onboard Work Order (OBWO) system and reporting, Terminal Yard Management System (TYMS), and Industrial Inventory Demurrage Switching (IIDS) system
  • Microsoft Office skills
  • Ability to manage and motivate people
  • Ability to drive for results
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • FOCUS, BOBJ, MS Access, TOAD, or similar
  • Familiarity of WORS, TYMS, IIDS, CTM, STEPS, and AWWS in mainframe
