Purpose
The Jefferson Center student assistant will aid in events and other PR related functions. They will perform other office tasks as needed. Hiring for 2026 summer (beginning in July 2026) to continue in Fall and Spring Terms.
Please do not apply if you are unable to work the week before school starts.
All necessary training will be provided. This position is open to work-study and non-work study students.

Responsibilities
Maintain and organize the lounge and library to ensure a welcoming and efficient environment for students, staff, and visitors. These are the public facing spaces for the Center. Duties include: restocking, cleaning, and organization.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of University of Texas policies and procedures, particularly as they relate to student services, and apply this knowledge in daily interactions.
Attend most Jefferson Center events, helping with promotion, set up/clean up, and taking photographs for publicity use.
Maintain the Instagram account and events page for the Center. Assist in design and advertising for student events. Keep the social media accounts up to date and active with newsletter information-design posts and flyers for events and announcements with photos taken at lectures.
Assist in peer mentor program by communicating directly with the mentors about events and keeping the schedule of events up to date for the Admin.
Provide support for both new and returning students, assisting with general questions, guidance through university processes, and connecting them to campus resources as needed.
Required Qualifications
Current student at UT Austin and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) for the current regular semester, in good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation or academic dismissal).
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Student Assistant will be expected to work during business hours, Monday-Friday between 8 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with some evening event assistance.
