Summary

The Clark County Juvenile Justice Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Juvenile Detention Assistant position. This position is responsible for providing safety, security, sight and sound supervision for juveniles in an institutional setting; conduct perimeter checks around the buildings and grounds; and intaking new juveniles and writing reports. The ideal candidate will be available to work nights and weekends and be proficient in defensive tactics.  

THIS POSITION REQUIRES THAT YOU MUST BE AT LEAST TWENTY-ONE (21) YEARS OF AGE AT THE TIME OF APPOINTMENT. 

THIS RECRUITMENT MAY BE USED TO FILL SOME POSITIONS LOCATED APPROXIMATELY 45 MINUTES FROM LAS VEGAS, 2400 ANGEL PEAK PL, LAS VEGAS, NV 89124.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Human Resources.

Examples of duties

Education and Experience: Equivalent to graduation from high school AND one (1) year of full-time experience working with and caring for juveniles, preferably with at risk juveniles OR college level course work in Criminal Justice, Child Development, Psychology, Social Work, Education or related behavioral science. Professional level experience and/or education that has provided the skills and knowledge necessary to perform all job functions at this level may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Minimum Age: Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age at time of appointment.


Working Conditions: Work evening, night, weekend and holiday shifts. Work in violent, traumatic or highly charged emotional environments. Specified positions may be assigned to a remote work site at high elevation. May be subject to exposure to blood and air borne diseases.


Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver's License.


Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted. Must not have any qualifying offense that violates the standards required by NRS 62B.223 and/or NRS 62G.223.


Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.


Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.


Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
