Job Overview

Experienced project management oversight of the design and construction of major capital projects (typically over $4 million in total project cost) across all aspects of the university including educational, athletic, medical, and auxiliary (housing, dining and related) work.

Essential Functions

  • Assume programmed work from Planning, hire on consulting Architectural and Engineering (A/E) firms to oversee design with end users and produce permit and bid documents, procure construction services, oversee construction, move manage, and readily resolve warranty period issues.  
  • Serve as seasoned project manager. Manage budget control, contract negotiation and execution of material procurement. Plan and administer capital improvement projects and renovations. Review and analyze project cost data and other numeric data. Accomplish assigned results for projects, or for significant aspects of complex assignments on time and budget.
  • Responsible for oversight of design of projects delegated to consulting design firms.
  • Participate in the development of university & department wide policies and procedures for projects through a complex decision process involving research, coordination & cooperation with other university departments.
  • Follow university methodology of delivering work in compliance with the Planning+Design+Construction’s Project Manager’s Manual, OFCC guidelines, and university standards.
  • Contribute effectively to the collective team effort (e.g., offers ideas, solutions, and resources).
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture or related field.
  • Nine (9) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
