Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Civil Engineer to be based in Raleigh, NC.
This position is expected to begin in May 2024.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Collecting and analyzing data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Using various computer software for solving engineering problems.
- Preparing written reports and other materials to communicate engineering project outcomes.
- Creating designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Performing work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
- Participating in field work, site visits, and data collection in a variety of areas and weather conditions.
- Conducting hydrologic, hydraulic, and water quality modeling evaluations.
- Performing stormwater management planning and design studies under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Structural Engineering, Biological and Agricultural Engineering or other related engineering field.
- Due to the nature of the projects, U.S. citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Certification as an Engineer Intern (EI) in North Carolina, or the ability to obtain EI certification within 2 years.
- Experience with drafting/CAD applications (MicroStation, AutoCAD, and/or Civil 3D).
- Knowledge of surface water quality, stormwater quality, and stormwater management concepts.
- Working knowledge of water resources engineering tools such as ArcGIS, SWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and other standard computer software such as Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated quality and accuracy in work performed and in technical reports and work products.
- Interest in equity, sustainability, and resilience concepts related to water resources.
