This recruitment is for multiple part-time limited-duration positions in Salem, OR (4190 Aumsville Hwy SE); therefore, this is not a represented position. This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants and may be used to fill future vacancies.

Compensation: $36.58/hour (Non-PERS contributing or "base pay") $39.12/hour (PERS contributing). This position has no guarantee of hours. The hours worked depend on DPSST's needs and the incumbent's schedule.
What you will be doing:
As a Leadership and Skills Instructor, you will facilitate a wide range of pre-designed and custom-developed coursework and activities tailored to public safety professionals across various stages of their careers. You will instruct on diverse topics, including leadership theory and application, emotional intelligence, ethics, legitimacy and procedural justice, mindset, officer wellness, performance management, labor relations, communication, administrative investigations, risk management, and other related subjects.
You will adapt your delivery methods to suit the context of public safety training curricula, ensuring engaging, effective presentations that foster active learning while maintaining classroom control. Your role includes preparing, utilizing, and maintaining training equipment and upholding all safety protocols throughout instruction.
Instructors offer instruction to students in various disciplines:
Basic Police Program
Leadership
Basic Corrections – Local Program
Basic Parole & Probation Program
Armed Parole & Probation Program
Liquor & Cannabis Inspector Program
Regional Training Program
Successful applicants will demonstrate an ability to effectively coach and evaluate a student in the effective, legal, and legitimate application of concepts, tactics, and techniques. DPSST expects instructors to maintain a safe and respectful training environment while offering training of the highest quality.
