Job Description

Purpose

• The Senior Director reports to the Vice President of R&D Data & AI Convergence. 
• AbbVie-wide multidisciplinary scientific expert and key opinion leader responsible for developing and driving the scientific and strategic objectives of the Convergence organization.

Responsibilities

• As the scientific leader for the Convergence organization, responsible for developing and executing strategies to generate and deploy novel analysis of large, cross-functional, internal and external datasets in a way that advances the objectives of the entire AbbVie R&D community and positions AbbVie as an industry-leading knowledge-based biopharmaceutical company. 
• Establishes relationships with leaders across R&D functions to develop a broader understanding of organizational needs and opportunities, enabling alignment between the Convergence scientific strategy and other functional strategies.   
• Partners with senior R&D leaders to ensure that the Convergence scientific strategy is in alignment with and supportive of functional objectives and is advancing AbbVie’s strategic priorities.
• Leads the cross-functional team of R&D Data & Digital Catalysts, both supporting their work and ensuring that their work is in alignment with the larger Convergence scientific strategy.
• Anticipates challenges and continually sets approaches to utilize newly proven technology.  Anticipates and prioritizes emerging scientific and technology trends.  Champions global use of innovation sourced internally or externally.
• Partners with Information Research (IR) to drive technology and capability builds that enable assembly of large data sets and advanced a
