Position:

Tooling & Molding Maintenance Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY:

The Tooling & Molding Maintenance Supervisor will streamline current process by developing internal capabilities to reach highest levels of safety, quality, and productivity in Molding.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Job Functions:

Interface with Estimating, Engineering, Production, Tooling, and Quality to provide input and direction. Establish concepts and tracking methods for CIP projects and cost improvement. Participate in the design and acquisition of new molds. Participate in the development of new mold production process and mold repair methods. Identify, maintain, and continue to upgrade all training and educational needs for assigned staffing. Develop and maintain all documentation required to establish trends, monitor cost effectiveness. Aggressively reduce changeover times, rework, & scrap to improve profit margin. Complete capital projects as assigned to meet time and budgetary needs. Collaborate with process engineers, press operators, and others to continually improve Stoneridge processes. Maintain max cavitation for all molds. Maintain quality and production standards follow all IATF & ISO guidelines. Recognize concerns and identify opportunities for continuous improvement using lean manufacturing tools to implement improved processes (e.g. 3P planning, 8 step corrective action, SMED). Drive the molding maintenance team to achieve TPM process for all molding machine and auxiliary equipment.

This job description reflects management's assignment of essential functions. It does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned. This individual possesses the experience and knowledge to effectively develop and grow us from a small-scale mold repair and maintenance team into being a main support department or the Lexington plant. A project leader at heart, they will have the ability to manager from the planning stages through successful completion of several projects. With a working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical background they will guide the team in all aspects of technical equipment from CNC machines to mold machine repair. A skillful CAD designer will improve internal capabilities to decrease lead time in mold and machine repairs. This will also allow us to leverage outside vendors to assure we are getting the best cost on items outside our abilities. They are key to taking molding department to the next level.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:

Qualifications:

  • Journeyman Tool & Die Maker
  • CAD designer
  • Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical manufacturing experience
  • Troubleshooting
  • Computer skills
  • Leadership experience
  • CNC Operations & Programming

Minimum Education required:

  • Completion of associate’s degree in maintenance or manufacturing technologies (preferred) or 4 years Journeyman equivalent experience.

Minimum Experience Required:

  • Advanced mechanical aptitude
  • Meets qualifications of Maintenance Technician II
  • 10 years of combined experience in Tool & Die maker / Maintenance/ Engineering
  • 5 years of manufacturing design experience
