What You Will Do:

Our consultants on the Defense & Security AI & Data team help clients maximize the value of their data and automate business processes. This high performing team works with clients to implement the full spectrum of data analytics and data science, from data querying and wrangling to data engineering, to data visualization, dashboarding, and business intelligence (BI), to predictive analytics, machine learning (ML), and artificial intelligence (AI). Our services enable our clients to define their information strategy, enable mission critical insights and data-driven decision making, reduce cost and complexity, increase trust, and improve operational effectiveness. 

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of initial AI/ML solutions that address mission needs, while establishing sustainable best practices for a bureau new to advanced analytics

  • Build foundational data science and machine learning workflows, including data pipelines, model development processes, and documentation standards

  • Assess current systems, identify opportunities where AI/ML can add value, and translate complex technical concepts into actionable recommendations for leadership and non‑technical stakeholders

  • Mentor staff and deliver training to build internal awareness and workforce capability in AI/ML concepts, responsible AI practices, and data-driven decision-making

  • Collaborate across IT, data, and mission teams to ensure AI/ML solutions are secure, ethical, compliant with federal standards, and aligned with long-term modernization goals

  • Belong to a collaborative team dedicated to AI, Advanced Analytics and Intelligent Automation. Focus on client services, while also supporting business development, internal firm initiatives, and ongoing professional development in data science, data analytics, and/or data engineering

  • Work as a senior data scientist/data analytics/business intelligence professional in collaboration with cross-functional teams

  • Continue career development in data science and data analytics software, methods, and consulting. 

What You Will Need:

  • An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED "SECRET" Federal or DoD security clearance.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent practical experience

  • FIVE (5) or more years of experience delivering production ML solutions (prediction, NLP, Gen AI or optimization) with measurable impact

  • Experience in Python (Pandas, NumPy, scikitlearn‑, PyTorch/TensorFlow)

  • Experience using Azure and Databricks, including cleaning, aggregating, and organizing data from multiple sources 

  • Hands-on experience identifying, developing and deploying AI solutions and able to articulate decisions with leadership

  • Experience in implementing model risk management, bias testing, explainability (e.g., SHAP, LIME), data privacy, and audit-ready documentation

  • Experience leading advance analytics development efforts and managing the work of more junior data scientists 

  • Ability to support on-site and hybrid projects in the DC metro area.

What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Familiar with major AI domains and when to use them (deep learning, NLP, Gen AI, etc.)

  • Proven success translating technical concepts for non‑technical audiences, facilitating requirements, and securing buy‑in in low‑maturity or change‑resistant environments

  • Experience managing end‑to‑end ownership from problem framing → data acquisition → modeling → deployment → monitoring, with clear KPIs and post‑deployment iteration

  • Experience leading data driven analytic activities involving the identification of key indicators for both compliance and effectiveness critical to mission/business success

  • Ability to lead and design data modeling processes, algorithms and predictive models, AI use cases, and custom analysis 

  • Ability to define data requirements and ensure storage, availability, and coherence of electronically stored information to guarantee it meets the organization's needs 

  • Experience manipulating large data sets and using them to identify trends and reach meaningful conclusions to inform strategic business decisions
