The Team:
The Tutor Sonographer position is part of the Department of Medical Imaging (DMI) at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH), the state’s major clinical teaching and research centre. The team provides comprehensive medical imaging services to Southern Tasmania and statewide in some specialties. Within DMI, the Ultrasound Section performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations for all referring medical specialties, supporting patient care across diverse clinical areas.
This team works collaboratively with other imaging modalities and partners other institutions to maintain high standards of education, research, and clinical practice. Their focus is on delivering excellence in healthcare, improving outcomes for patients, and fostering a supportive environment for professional development. The culture emphasizes teamwork, continuous learning, and innovation in diagnostic imaging to serve the Tasmanian community effectively
The Role:
The Tutor Sonographer will:
- Lead the development, education and training of staff including Trainee Sonographers
- Provide advice with up-to-date evidence and high-level advice in advancements and clinical sonography
You will need:
- Extensive experience and demonstrated knowledge and skill relating to all areas of contemporary Ultrasound procedures in a tertiary referral hospital.
- Proven commitment to ongoing education, including a sound understanding of and experience in the design, implementation, and evaluation of training and professional development programs.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, together with the ability to supervise, support and mentor Radiology Registrars, Sonographers, Trainee Sonographers, and under-graduate radiography students.

Details of appointment:
Permanent part time, shift worker position, working 30.4 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $123,717 to $134,336 per annum pro rata. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

- Please note that access to salaries beyond $130,900 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum
- A market allowance of 20% of the base salary is applicable to this role.
