As Cornell University’s online learning unit, eCornell delivers online professional certificate courses to individuals and organizations around the world. Courses are personally developed by Cornell faculty with expertise in a wide range of topics, including data analytics, management, marketing, human resources, leadership, and STEM. Students learn in an interactive, small cohort format to gain skills they can immediately apply in their organizations, while earning a professional certificate from Cornell University. eCornell has offered online learning courses and certificate programs for 15 years to over 130,000 students at more than 2,000 companies.

The Opportunity

The Associate Director of Executive Education Operations leads and develops a dynamic team of Program Managers and Coordinators to ensure the successful planning and execution of both in-person and online executive education programs. These programs, facilitated by Cornell University faculty at prestigious global locations, offer valuable educational and professional development opportunities to leaders in business, labor, politics, and culture. The Associate Director shapes strategic direction by developing programs and priorities, formulating and implementing departmental policies and procedures, managing budgets and fiscal operations, and identifying new opportunities in external education.

Additionally, the Associate Director cultivates relationships with External Education Operations and Enterprise Partnerships, overseeing the implementation and delivery of blended programs, including online courses, symposia, and other virtual and in-person events. Responsibilities include managing personnel for a complex schedule of events, conducting capacity planning based on the event sales pipeline, developing efficient business processes for rapid project execution, and leading program enrollment management.

The role involves utilizing and analyzing data to identify gaps and opportunities, assessing compliance, adjusting strategies, and preparing comprehensive reports for senior leadership. The Associate Director may also serve as the lead host for key custom or open enrollment executive education programs. This position reports to the Vice President of Enterprise Programs and collaborates closely with various External Education stakeholders, including Cornell educators, academic leadership, program operations, product management, student support, and partner sales to ensure a positive and successful experience for external education partners and participants.

  • Oversee the delivery of $7M of annual custom live programs and ensure alignment with client expectations.

  • Lead and mentor a team of Program Managers and Coordinators, ensuring effective planning and execution of executive education offerings, both face-to-face and virtual.

  • Direct the execution and delivery of hybrid programs, including online courses, symposiums, and events, while allocating and managing human resources to optimize staffing and resource use.

  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives, policies, and procedures aligning programs with the university’s mission, while administering budget and financial planning for all programs to ensure cost-effectiveness and sustainability.
