Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Construction Resident Project Manager to join our Construction Management teams in the New York City Metropolitan area. The selected candidate will support and lead highway and bridge transportation projects, working closely with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams. This role offers the opportunity to oversee project delivery, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards while contributing to critical infrastructure improvements across the region.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight of the field staff and operations during the project construction phase including preparation of inspector's daily work schedules, ensuring site safety monitoring, technical oversight, quality of construction, and Client satisfaction
  • Accountable for the planning, coordination and inspection and construction management activities and assignments of all direct reporting staff to ensure efficient utilization of staffing. Ability to balance work in the project office with the senior management team and also provide supervision of the field inspection teams working nights and weekends
  • Interface with contractors to ensure coordination of construction activities and to meet aggressive project schedules
  • Assessing and resolving constructability challenges on-site, providing practical solutions to contractors and construction inspectors
  • Act as a primary point of contact for PM/CM related work with NYSDOT, and NYCDOT in NYC, helping to assure delivery and grow new business
  • Direct and manages subordinate managers, enforce company and project policies, and be a primary liaison between AECOM and client interfaces
  • Overall responsibility and management of projects will include managing budget through construction and contract closeout
  • Develop and implement project-specific quality control plans to ensure compliance with contract specifications and industry standards
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential issues and implement corrective actions proactively
  • Prepare and present comprehensive project status reports, including progress updates, risk assessments, and financial forecasts to senior management and clients
  • Collaborate with design teams to review and provide constructability input on project plans and specifications
  • Manage and mitigate project risks through proactive identification, analysis, and implementation of risk response strategies
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations, as well as environmental and sustainability requirements
  • Mentor and develop junior staff members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the team
  • Participate in business development activities, including proposal preparation and client presentations, to support the growth of AECOM's Construction Management practice in the region

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 10 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Due to the projects associated with this position a US Citizenship is required
  • Transit and Transportation Experience

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Excellent written communications and presentation abilities in internal project settings with, the senior management team, external project stakeholders including senior client management leadership
  • Knowledge and experience in performing inspection and resident engineering activities on large scale NYSDOT or NYCDOT highway bridge related projects or MTA Transit projects, and construction site safety standards and operations requirements
  • Experienced in reviewing and validating contractor change order requests against co
