About the role
DiMe is seeking a Communications Lead to join a new and ambitious communications team. This person will report to the Director of Communications and collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to showcase the impact and amplification of DiMe’s work. This person is an excellent storyteller who will be able to use words, visuals, and data to highlight DiMe’s work, incite excitement among our key audiences, and move them to action. Key responsibilities include:
- Drive the organizational-wide gathering and communicating/marketing of DiMe’s work in action, including case studies, data points, publication citations, external/community amplification, and more. Creatively consolidate and/or integrate these items into thematic stories; lead the development of written and/or multimedia communications to share externally.
- Oversee all of DiMe’s strategic storytelling efforts, aligning with and supporting DiMe’s thought leadership, Resources in Action (RIA) hub, project work, education program, org-hosted events, and beyond.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across DiMe functional group areas to identify and support RIA and amplifciation opportunities.
- Coordinate across Team DiMe, DiMe partners, community members, and/or external entities to gather and package stories in a clear, inspirational way, and using a variety of formats and channels to communicate externally.
- Maintain the accuracy of DiMe’s RIA Hub, as well as the internal tracking of all RIAs and amplifications.
- Use internal metrics software to analyze the success of our RIA hub and efforts, showcase DiMe impact, and/or gather interesting data points to support storytelling.
- As needed, oversee consultants and/or interns to execute DiMe storytelling (citation gathering, creating/editing videos, fine tuning case study designs, etc.)
- Ongoing,
- Solicit new RIA submissions from new and exisiting RIA contributors
- Brainstorm new ideas around showcasing and communicating DiMe content and stories, beyond DiMe’s website and social media channels.
- Fine tune internal and external processes for gathering and communicating stories.
In the Storytelling Lead role you will demonstrate:
- Subject matter expertise: Must be an expert in identifying stakeholders in the field who are leading digital innovation and translating their application of DiMe’s resources into repositories and stories that are clear, informative, and motivate the field to further advance change
- Project management skills: Must have advanced project management skills with strong attention to detail and adhering to deadlines; skilled at dovetailing the management of supporting efforts with the needs of the parent project
- Content creation: Must have strong interpersonal and communications skills to lead the communications with internal and external groups; Independently identifies opportunities for new formats and content as appropriate
- Strategic planning: Should have the ability to anticipate and plan for future opportunities and needs, and be able to contribute ideas to higher level strategic planning
- Communication skills: Must have advanced skills in speaking, writing, engagement, holding productive discussions, and problem solving across multiple internal/external groups
- Leadership: Should have advanced informal leadership skills (e.g. proactively building informal partnerships with colleagues to enable knowledge sharing and acts as a model for the team)
