About the team

The Cash and Transaction speed team is focused on three main pillars: Reducing stripes core API latencies, reducing stripes internal costs, and using our expertise to preemptively address inefficiencies before they become a problem. We are looking for people who enjoy learning new systems and diving into high-impact and technically challenging projects. If you like investigating high value projects and delivering deep and broad results, this might be the team for you! 

What you’ll do

As a backend engineer, you will identify and solve problems that are impacting Stripe. The work crosses many different areas from data processing to core API improvements. There is plenty of space to find new areas that need improvement or to lend your skills to existing initiatives. 

Responsibilities

• Investigate different systems looking for inefficiencies and areas for improvement.   
• Design and implement improvements to various systems to make them faster and cheaper.
• Collaborate with multiple teams to design and build solutions that are robust and future proof.

Minimum requirements

• 3+ years of professional, full-time software development experience
• Have a strong technical background with experience working in the backend of complex systems
• Hold yourself and others to a high bar when working in mission critical systems.  
• Take pride in delivering projects to successful completion involving a wide variety of technologies and systems.
