Accounting Assistant (Temporary, Part-Time Role)
WHAT WE SEEK
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Assistant to support our Finance team in key operational and compliance tasks. This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to work directly with the Controller and contribute to projects that are critical to our financial reporting and compliance infrastructure. The ideal candidate is organized, highly detailed, and has excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide exemplary customer support. The ideal candidate also enjoys a fast paced environment and has a knack for leveraging current technologies to improve processes.
WHAT YOUR DAY WILL LOOK LIKE
- Revenue Recognition (ASC 606 Compliance):
- Identify and review sales orders that require ASC 606 revenue recognition compliance.
- Reallocate and redistribute revenue across order lines to ensure proper accounting treatment under ASC 606.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Order Management, Accounting) to ensure accurate order setup and compliance.
- Business License Management:
- Assist with tracking and renewing state and local business licenses across the U.S.
- Coordinate with third-party services and government entities as needed to maintain compliance.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation and filing systems for licenses and renewals.
- Special Projects & Process Improvements:
- Support the Controller in ongoing finance process improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to enhancing the company’s usage of BlackLine to streamline monthly close activities.
- Analyze workflows and assist in developing more efficient reconciliation and reporting tools.
- Performs other duties, as assigned
- Please note: This is a part-time temporary position with a flexible schedule that may vary weekly based on project needs (approximately 10–20 hours/week). Candidates should be available during regular business hours and comfortable with a variable work pattern.
WHAT SHOULD BE IN YOUR BOOKBAG
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Previous experience supporting an accounting or finance team in a professional or academic setting is strongly preferred.
- Basic understanding of U.S. GAAP; familiarity with ASC 606 is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledgeable in current technologies, including understanding how to use various business application platforms, collaboration tools and basic business programs (e.g. Microsoft Office suite)
- Self-starter with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
