About the role

Overall Purpose Of The Job

As a key manager in MedAire, the Global Controller leads the Central Accounting Department and is responsible for the overall company’s accounting policies and practices, the maintenance of its fiscal records, ensuring accurate reporting of financial performance, working with the External/Internal auditors in the testing of internal controls and preparation of the annual audit and any other agreed upon procedures. The position involves supervision over general accounting, directing and managing accounting staff and functions, as well as collaboration with budgetary control functions (FP&A) across the global MedAire operations.


 

Key Responsibilities

Accounting

 

  • Responsible for the accounting of all the Aviation & Maritime Worldwide Legal Entities under the scope of the Central Accounting department.
  • Enables timely and complete monthly and quarterly reporting – for Regional & Financial reporting as well as local management reporting requirements.
  • Reviews and improves all processes related to revenue and cost recognition and ensures appropriate communication across all the departments of the organization.
  • Responsible for accurate Balance Sheet reporting through periodic systematic detailed reviews in order to proactively manage and avoid exposures, including P&L and Balance Sheet FX exposures.
  • Manages set-up of new entities / sub location whenever required.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with all departments of the company, including creating and maintaining service level standards for delivery of accounting related services.
  • Manages and coordinates year end Group and Statutory audits as well as Group Internal Audits for all US entities and coordinates support of non-US audits.
  • Participates in Forecast and Budget preparation for Balance Sheet items and territories.
  • Directs and manages the Accounting Department’s daily operations related to the general ledger, receivables, payables and payroll.
  • Mentors, coaches and develops accounting management, staff accountants, accounts payable and billing team through effective delegation of duties and special projects.
  • Develop cross training, documentation and backup solution for all accounting tasks processing.
  • Develops implements and monitors effectiveness of internal controls and associated documentation and processes.
  • Researches and analyzes the impact of accounting pronouncements on the Company’s financials and current accounting practices in conjunction with Group Finance.
  • Responsible for audits (internal and external) and compliance with all federal, state, and local financial, payrolls, sales, excise and other applicable taxes in the US.
  • Maintains all client information which may be encountered either directly or indirectly while in the performance of the job in strict confidence in accordance with HIPAA and/or any other pertinent confidentiality regulations.
  • Acts as technical accounting expert to support Aviation & Maritime finance teams and be the Aviation & Maritime point of contact with the Corporate team for any Accounting / Balance Sheet / Tax and Audit related matters in the US.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Control Standard & Compliance

 

  • Develops and maintains all necessary accounting policies and systems to ensure compliance with GAAP.
  • Ensures compliance to General Affairs Policy & Procedures (GAPP) at all times. Ensure GAPP are up to date and manage compliance at all times through periodic reviews and spot audits.
  • In coordination with Group Legal, ensure legal compliance of all entities in the US for Aviation and Maritime.

 

Financial Systems

 

  • Ensures that the Financial Applications (GP, SalesPad, Cognos, Concur) accurately record the performance of the Aviation & Maritime entities and coordinate with IT / Business Applications teams and External Vendors the necessary maintenance and upgrades

 

Leadership & Team Management

 

  • Lead a team of accounting and finance professionals to ensure they meet individual and team objectives.
  • Able to command teams respect, and inspire them to act by creating a learning and professionally rewarding environment.

 

Handling Deadlines and Pressure Situations

 

  • Ability to effectively pre-plan to manage team performance during workload peak – month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting periods.
