Geotab is seeking a Hardware Integration Developer Intern who will be responsible for assisting supporting new assets (such as Cold Chain units, tachographs, sensors..) to connect to Geotab's devices. If you love technology, researching, discovering and analyzing new systems, and are keen to join an industry leader — we would love to hear from you!
What you’ll do
As a Hardware Developer Intern, you will play a crucial role in assisting the Hardware Development team in supporting new assets to connect to Geotab's devices. You will be responsible for assisting with project work, as well as managing day-to-day activities. You will be expected to collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers (Firmware, software), support engineers, solutions engineers & product managers. This internship will provide you with a valuable hands-on experience in integrations focused on enabling connectivity with Refrigeration Control Units, Tachographs, Thermographs and any other Third Party Device or Sensor where Geotab can leverage data from.
This will be a 6 months paid internship program, ideally full time, but flexible depending on the student circumstances.

How you’ll make an impact:
- Develop an understanding of the Hardware integration process with the multiple Geotab devices.
- Assist designing, prototyping and defining requirements for harnesses, enclosures and toolings.
- Reverse engineer different systems including electrical, hardware and communications systems and protocols.
- Help prepare the documentation related to the different parts of the integration process.
- Support the automation of processes to improve efficiency.
What you’ll bring to this role:
- Completing a Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Computer, Systems Design, Automotive, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- Relevant courses on automotive systems are a bonus.
- Physical layers analysis knowledge (including but not limited to CAN bus, K-Line/ISO9141, Single Wire CAN, RS-232 and RS-485), such as signals voltage level measurements and interpretation etc..
- Experience using laboratory measurement and testing equipment (oscilloscope, multimeter etc..)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
