The Senior Engineering Manager is responsible for leading global team of pre-market Supplier Quality Engineers supporting new product development.</p><p></p><p>Reporting to the Director of Supplier Quality, the leader is responsible for hiring engineering staff and maintaining a strong engineering team. The manager may work in a hybrid arrangement of an onsite and remote work week. This leader works with global, cross-functional peers through internal and external partnerships, and ensures appropriately skilled engineers are assigned to global product development teams, to deliver products on time and meet functional and operational goals.</p><p></p><p><b>Come for a job, stay for a career!</b></p><p></p><p><b>A Day in The Life Of:</b></p><ul><li>Recruit, select and develop technical staff for maximum impact. Coach and mentor the team to drive engineering rigor throughout the development of new products sourced from external suppliers.</li><li>Monitor project risk & support the team with effective problem solving of technical issues.</li><li>Collaboratively partner with cross-functional and project leaders to ensure that product development teams prioritize supplier quality and technical rigor while achieving business objectives. Help remove barriers so the team can move with speed and decisiveness.</li><li>Monitor project risk & support the team with effective problem solving of technical issues.</li><li>Ensure corrective and preventive measures meet acceptable standards of robustness and effectiveness.</li><li>Resource planning and assignment of supplier quality engineers to development programs to ensure optimum utilization of the team.</li><li>Provide input to and/or lead strategic initiatives to continuously improve the performance of the team.</li><li>Organizes the coordination of activities with outside suppliers and consultants to ensure timely delivery.</li><li>Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Key Skills & Experience </b></p><ul><li>Requires a Level 8 Degree in Materials Science or Engineering or other relevant discipline.</li><li>Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with 3+ years of managerial experience.</li><li>Requires mastery level knowledge and skills in the development of products and/or manufacturing processes.</li><li>Track record of developing engineers in the areas of specification development, process risk assessment, test method validation, process <span>characterization/development/validation,</span> and process controls to ensure first time quality principles (e.g. Do Not Make, Do Not Ship).</li><li>Dynamic team player that can effectively lead a global team. Requires up to 10% travel.</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Desired/Preferred Qualifications</b></p><ul><li>Knowledge of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) or equivalent qualification practices of supplied product.</li><li>Design for Reliability and Manufacturability (DRM) and/or Six Sigma green belt or black belt certified.</li><li>Advanced knowledge of measurement systems and Supplier processes (CNC, Laser, Polymer Processing, Injection Molding, Extrusion, Thermoforming, Welding, Bonding, Chemical processes, etc.).</li><li><span>Advantages/disadvantage</span> of various manufacturing methods for different commodity types, manufacturability, assembly, and process control.</li><li>Product and Clinical Understanding; knowledge of vascular anatomy, physiology, primary disease states and Cardiovascular products.</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Medtronic offer a competitive salary and flexible Benefits Package</b></p><p></p><p><b>#IJA</b></p><p></p><p></p><p><b>Physical Job Requirements</b><br/><br/>The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this position, but they are not an exhaustive list of all the required responsibilities and skills of this position. </p><p
