ABOUT THIS POSITION 

The Lead Cook / Cook Supervisor position will be located in a higher education school setting. This person will be responsible for executing the daily/weekly menu to company recipe specifications and the day to day operations of the commissary. Main responsibilities will be: preparing exciting and engaging meals following Genuine recipes, leading a team of cooks, managing daily prep and ensuring all food safety & sanitation standards are being met. 

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Execute and help craft seasonal and exciting menus with the culinary team for our clients while being mindful of client preferences, tastes and nutrition.
  • Collaborate with the Chef and Food Service Director to ensure menus meet labor, food cost and efficiency standards.
  • Ensure all items are cooked correctly based on recipe and standards
  • Complies for food safety and sanitation requirements.
  • Assist in supervising the team of cooks, overseeing all aspects of daily food preparation & serving including culinary and operational excellence, staff/skills training, daily troubleshooting, recipe adherence, and site cleanliness and organization.
  • Continuously improve and propel forward culinary aspects of operations from sourcing and receiving, to menu/recipe development and feedback

Qualifications

  • Must be flexible & team-oriented! 

  • 3+ year of line cook or culinary experience 

  • 1+ year of management experience 

  • Willingness to learn the compliance requirements of the USDA National School Lunch Program. 

  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic and level headedness. 

  • Punctual and able to adhere to the time and attendance policy. 

  • Able to climb stairs and lift up 50 lbs. 

  • Interest in and committed to Genuine Foods’ mission to use food to help students enhance their minds, bodies and happiness.
