Job Description:

Are you ready to lead the charge in delivering America’s Most Important Aviation Infrastructure Project? Parsons Corporation is seeking a Senior Director of Digital Engineering to play a pivotal role in transforming the future of air travel by delivering the Brand-New Air Traffic Control System (BNATCS) for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This groundbreaking initiative will redefine the National Airspace System (NAS), ensuring safer, more efficient, and resilient air traffic management for generations to come.

The Cloud Implementation Lead provides technical leadership and subject matter expertise in the deployment and integration of cloud-based solutions to support BNATCS operations and scalability. This role focuses on ensuring seamless integration of cloud infrastructure with legacy systems, optimizing resources for scalability and cost efficiency, and maintaining compliance with FAA security and operational requirements. The Lead will manage cloud-hosted tools, monitor cloud performance, and drive modernization efforts to ensure a future-ready National Airspace System (NAS). Proficiency in leading cloud implementations across platforms such as AWS, Azure, and other enterprise cloud environments is critical to success in this role.

This position reports directly to the BNATCS Chief Technology Officer (CTO), and your executive presence, global leadership experience, and strong communication skills will be instrumental in driving our mission forward. Together, we will deliver the systems that ensure the safety, efficiency, and innovation of America’s skies.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement robust cloud architectures that meet business requirements, ensuring scalability, security, and cost efficiency.
  • Lead a team of cloud architects and engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design and deliver innovative cloud solutions that address business challenges.
  • Define and execute cloud adoption strategies, including migration plans, optimization, and governance frameworks.
  • Assess emerging cloud technologies and recommend solutions to enhance organizational capabilities.
  • Ensure cloud solutions adhere to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and security best practices.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, DevOps, and business units, to align cloud initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of cloud architectures, processes, and best practices.

Education / Experience Requirements

  • BS in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related technical discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 8-10 years of experience in cloud architecture and solutions, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proficiency in major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native technologies, microservices, and containerization (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Knowledge of networking, security, and identity management in cloud environments.
  • Experience optimizing cloud resources for scalability, elasticity, and cost efficiency.
  • Strong understanding of federal cloud standards, cybersecurity protocols, and FAA-specific IT requirements.
  • Track record of successful collaboration with stakeholders, including government agencies, IT teams, and program managers.

Skills / Competencies

  • Strong understanding of FAA security requirements, federal cloud standards, and/or cybersecurity protocols.
  • Exceptional ability to collaborate with FAA IT teams, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions aligned with program objectives.
  • Adept at monitoring cloud performance, identifying risks, and implementing proactive solutions to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Effective communicator with experience engaging senior leaders, government stakeholders, and technical teams.
  • Agile thinker with the ability to devise creative solutions to complex challenges in cloud-based environments.
